5月23日 the waiting is overafter months of anticipation it arrived yesterday. the most recent indiana jones films was shown in ras al khaimah last night about half a dozen times. as feasible as michael drosnin's bible code series its (nearly) two and a half hours of length was its strength as it afforded me forty five minutes sleep without missing too much. there was an awesome (with a caiptal o) chase/fight scene through the peruvian jungle which i enjoyed greatly. harrison ford is as handsome as most people his age in the public eye (literally). i hope to be so one day. handsome, not in your collective eye. the movie was made all the more good as a handful of our good friends were there.
i have fifteen more school days until the holidays. with our baby due any time soon i can imagine that matters that were big last week will get smaller and smaller.
we hope you are all well and , like us, awaiting our baby with excitement and love. 5月11日 get awayi've become blaze about those washing lines they have in showers in hotels. i know, because the first time i saw one, which might have been in paris but was probably in finland, i spent a lot of my shower time fiddling with it. it's important to check that the line is long enough and opposite enough to work. i've only ever tested them, never used one for serious laundering. yet. since paris or finland i've actually tested heaps of these. i've stayed in some lovely hotels and accommodations. i cried in one once. i was in colombo. we'd just spent seventy five bucks and six hours in a taxivan driving along the south coast of sri lanka just weeks after that stupid tsunami removed massive amounts of life from south east asia. and somalia. i remember talking with a lady in hambantota about what had happen to her house and family. i also remember i have told you this story before. we spent the next two nights in colombo at the sheraton before flying back to sharjah. that was one of a few ways we celebrated jenny's thirtieth. it was a nice hotel. well worth the 90 u.s.
we just had a family weekend in fujairah. there are many lovely places to stay over there and we eventually decided on the royal beach something something resort. it was very pleasant. a delicious room. a solid bed, literally, and eggs for breakfast followed by alternating trips between the swimming pool and the beach. using steve's snorkle gear i even saw a few of those box fish that i think are puffers until i see a real puffer then remember that they are called box somethings. we found a delicious pizza shop that creatively interpreted my order. this didn't matter because the food was tasty and a fratcion of the cost of the boring restaurant on site. the journey to fujairah was made more exciting by a wobbly wheel. it wiggled a little becasue it was a smidge smaller than the other three. it was smaller than the other because it was our spare. we decided to put the spare wheel on because one of the others had no air in it due to the presence of a whole hole. and so on. rest assured it was on nice and tight, though, you safety freaks. when steve, my aussie mate, saw my kiwi mate and i (who was on his mobile) changing it, i asked him how many kiwis it took to talk on the phone. knowing the answer i replied 'two - one to change the tyre and the other to talk on the phone'. he laughed. i wondered why.
our baby is due very soon and we're so looking forward to the arrival. we're pretty much ready (yeah, right).
do watch this space over the next month for photos and updates on the baby's position. you'll either get more stories containing questionably interesting details or the cutest jolly photos, ever. |
