April 16 out of placethere is no way i can word this next bit well. i wondered if sir edmund hillary's wife today thanked god that her husband passed earlier this year rather than later. this thought has sat with me today having read the news artical about the half dozen teenagers and their teacher who drowned on a school outing. how sad. so very very sad. for their families. for the school. for the principal who has to hold it together. what news to recieve. imagine being a dad. at work. delighted that your child had the opportunity to live in beautiful new zealand. delighted that they atteneded a school that sought to give the students a chance to live life to its fullest. combining these in tongariro national park for a week of awesome adventure. how happy that dad must have been. how totally and fully happy. then he gets the phone call. from the police or his wife. there's been an accident.
ed hillary would have broken to have learned that the centre that bears his name hosted this horrible week. not that they were to blame one iota. but still. |
