February 02 i think i've cracked itwhat
do you call the sound that is made when you take your thumb and your
middle finger? you then flick you index finger down onto your middle
finger. from what i gather, this is best done somewhere near your own
ear. done properly, it makes a really satisfying slapping sound. for
some reason, i was practising making this sound in the bathroom this evening. i did a perfect one. not a good one. a blinder. my digits slapped so cleanly, like they had been digitally enhanced. but the best bit for me was that it didn't hurt, like it can sometimes. that was today in the bathroom. yesterday in the bathroom, without revealing too much, i had dried myself post shower. with my towel wrapped around me i headed for the door. unfortunately i should have headed for the doorway. i heard a crunching sound coming from my little toe. within a short time, like seconds, it was clear. i'd busted my toe. you can still see the bruise and it won't bend much or let me walk on it with much oomph. i can only add to this story by saying only ten minutes earlier i had exited the aforementioned bathroom and caught my other toe pinky on the door, although with less kick. i should've been more careful, i know. and, i went to the supermarket last night. to get come papadoms for the curries we were about to share with some good friends from school. i got the popadoms and, as i have become accustomed, a packet of m and ms - peanut. i carefully removed the corner of the packet and poured the contents into a cup holder by the handbrake so they could be eaten with some degree of safety as i drove home. i was half way back and bit into a yellow one. it was so nice. but the crunch i gave it had a little kick. this was because it broke a tooth. one of my favourite molars near the back of my mouth. i was a little disappointed. not just because i'd lost nearly a whole tooth, but because i now had to tell jenny i'd bought m and ms before tea. i went to the dentist. he said i need two crowns, a filling and a clean (on different teeth, obviously). total bil = 2150 dirhams. a little research thanks to google revealed that this bill is less than half what i might expect to pay for the same work in many other countries i've resided in previously. not as cheap as malaysia, apparently. i found this out over a bbq lunch with friends today. i once had a filling come out while eating... a marshmallow, in staines. strangely enough, i have learnt nothing from the past two days. i will no doubt continue to leave my bathroom, eat m and ms and enjoy marshmallows. |
